“Break Free” by Don Soriano – A Book Review

Like many of my readers, I want to be in control of my earnings (yes, I’m talking about more money) so I can live the lifestyle I want. To achieve this, one of the things I do is to read books and articles that promote financial literacy and money management. So when I received an invitation to review Don Soriano’s new book, I was thrilled!

If you are considering leaving your job or want to make a transistion into being your own boss, I invite you to read this book: Break Free: 8 Principles to Get from Employee to Employer in 3 Years or Less. The author shares his experience and insights as he started out as an entrepreneur. Learn what to to do and, more importantly, what not to do in making an entreprenuerial transistion.

Who it’s for: Aspiring employees who want to be their own boss

More specifically: Those who want a simple lifelong plan to take control of your life and switch from employee to entrepreneur.

This short book outlines:

  • Don’t quit your job (yet).
  • Learn as much as you can.
  • Increase your active income.
  • Start managing your money well.
  • Maximize leverage.
  • Get yourself in the right environment.
  • Create passive income.
  • Learn to master yourself.

Why I like it?

I certainly like the roadmap that the author shared and how he illustrated ways on how to follow it. The phrase that struck me the most was “Create more value within yourself”– which is what many people should use as a guide to a better financial well-being. Create more value within yourself by reading, listening, learning and applying the basics of personal finance, by managing your money properly, by maximize your time and resources through leverage and by conquering your fears.

Do I recommend the book?

YES! The book is a good and easy read. The chapters can be quite comprehensive, but there is a quick recap at the end of the book which I find very helpful. Just keep in mind, what may work for him, may not work for everyone. But, yes! His inspiring story from being bankrupt to a business owner and financially free is definitely something you can learn from.
